    Shàngkè le, Xiǎo Měi zuò zài zhuōzi pángbiān.

    Class began, and Xiao Mei sat beside the desk.

  2. 她听到书包里有人说话。

    Tā tīngdào shūbāo lǐ yǒurén shuōhuà.

    She heard someone talking in her school bag.

  3. 她打开书包，看见一个小猫。

    Tā dǎkāi shūbāo, kànjiàn yí gè Xiǎo Māo.

    She opened her bag and saw a little cat.

  4. 小猫说：“我很饿，想喝牛奶。”

    Xiǎo Māo shuō: “Wǒ hěn è, xiǎng hē niúnǎi.”

    The little cat said, "I'm very hungry and want to drink milk."

  5. 小美笑了，下课就去买牛奶。

    Xiǎo Měi xiào le, xiàkè jiù qù mǎi niúnǎi.

    Xiao Mei laughed and would go buy milk after class.
