It is a famous place in China.

长城在山上。

Chángchéng zài shān shàng.

The Great Wall is on the mountains.

山上有路。

Shān shàng yǒu lù.

There is a road on the mountain.

有的地方很高。

Yǒude dìfang hěn gāo.

Some places are very high.

走路很累。

Zǒulù hěn lèi.

Walking is tiring.

很久很久以前，中国人修了长城。

Hěn jiǔ hěn jiǔ yǐqián, zhōngguó rén xiū le chángchéng.

Very long ago, Chinese people built the Great Wall.

北边常常有坏人来。

Běibiān chángcháng yǒu huàirén lái.

Bad people often came from the north.

他们想家里安全。

Tāmen xiǎng jiālǐ ānquán.

They wanted their homes to be safe.

他们就修了长城。

Tāmen jiù xiū le chángchéng.

So they built the Great Wall.

秦朝很早很早。

Qín cháo hěn zǎo hěn zǎo.

The Qin dynasty was very, very old.

那个时候，很多国家有长城。

At that time, many states had walls.

这些长城，秦朝的人连在了一起。

The Qin people put these walls together.

What we see now,

很多是明朝的。

Hěn duō shì míng cháo de.

much of it is from the Ming.

工人们在山上工作。

The workers worked on the mountains.

他们拿着砖，走很远的路。

Tāmen ná zhe zhuān, zǒu hěn yuǎn de lù.

They carried bricks and walked a long way.

没有汽车，也没有飞机。

Méiyǒu qìchē, yě méiyǒu fēijī.

There were no cars and no planes.

工作很难，也很累。

Gōngzuò hěn nán, yě hěn lèi.

The work was hard and tiring.

现在很多人去长城。

Xiànzài hěn duō rén qù chángchéng.

Now many people go to the Great Wall.

北京的北边就有长城。

Běijīng de běibiān jiù yǒu chángchéng.

There is a Great Wall just north of Beijing.

外国朋友也喜欢去。

Wàiguó péngyou yě xǐhuan qù.

Foreign friends like to go too.
